THE LIST OF

THE LIST OF

Although our company is headquartered on Easter Island, the full range of Anakena cosmetics in Chile is produced at the renowned Bellcos Laboratory in Santiago. Unfortunately, due to its isolation, Rapa Nui does not currently have the means to manufacture Anakena cosmetics there.

The complete range of our products is registered with the Chilean Public Health Institute (ISP) as required by law. The ISP registration numbers can be found on each package and in the details of each product below.

All cosmetic and personal hygiene products that you and your family use every day are in direct contact with the skin, the largest organ of the body, which absorbs everything that is applied to it. That is why it is so important to use only products that have the corresponding registration from the ISP, as this guarantees that they comply with the sanitary requirements existing in Chile.

What are INCI names and why are they important?

What are INCI names and why are they important?

When you purchase a cosmetic product, it is essential that you can easily identify its ingredients, an international standard requires that all components be indicated on the label with uniform names, known as INCI (INNCI).International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients or International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients).

INCI names do not always coincide with chemical or pharmaceutical names. They are generally standardized versions in English that allow ingredients to be recognized uniformly almost everywhere in the world. This standardization makes it easier for anyone to detect whether a product contains an ingredient to which they are allergic, even if they buy it in another country.

How ingredients are presented
In any cosmetic - be it cream, shampoo, soap, oils or makeup - all ingredients must be listed on the package, following the INCI name. The list is ordered by concentration: first the ingredients present in the greatest quantity and, at the end, those with a proportion lower than 1%, which do not follow a specific order.

Natural and modified ingredients
A good clue as to whether an ingredient is natural and unmodified is to look at its name:

  • If the Latin name of the plant or raw material (e.g. Cocos Nucifera Oil for coconut oil), means that it has not undergone significant alterations.
  • If there have been chemical modifications or it is a synthetic ingredient, it will appear with an English name such as Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides or Stearates.

Additional regulations
There are specific regulations for certain types of ingredients, such as those of vegetable origin, colorants (identified by "CI" codes), aromas and fragrances, among others. At Anakena - Natural Cosmetics we faithfully comply with these regulations to offer transparency, safety and confidence in all our products.

Do you have doubts about the INCI of our cosmetics?
You can write to us on our contact and we will be glad to help you with the information you need.

Paraben Free!

Lovers of natural cosmetics are concerned about knowing exactly the ingredients that make up each product, before making the purchase decision. And one of the most important details to take into account is that the product is free of Parabens, as is the case of Anakena cosmetics.
But what exactly are Parabens? Parabens are chemical preservatives that are added to most cosmetics and personal care products, with the aim of making them more durable over time, preventing the appearance of microorganisms such as fungi or bacteria. Parabens have been used for a very long time and are officially accepted by health authorities, due to their low concentration. However, in recent years, scientific studies have found that their presence in cosmetic products can cause more harm than good. Analyses carried out on breast cancer tissues have detected traces of parabens in almost 90% of the cases, which has set off all the alarm bells.
That is why it is so important to check the ingredients of the products we use on our skin and hair, not just cosmetics. We can easily identify parabens by reading the labels, where they will usually appear with their English names: methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben or benzylparaben.
Although there are still those who argue that the direct link between Parabens and cancer cannot be proven, at Anakena we care not only about beauty but also about health, that's why our products are Paraben free!
